Student Leaders from Salk, Vandenberge and Elk River High Honored at December Meeting

At its regular Board Meeting in early December, the ISD 728 School Board took time to honor and present certificates to student leaders from around the District, continuing a time-honored tradition. 

IHonorees from Elk River High, Salk STEM Middle and VandenBerge Middle schools took center stage. Here's a feature on each of the honorees submitted by their principals/teachers. 

Elk River High School

Lucas Dahlberg

Lucas is a dedicated leader at ERHS and in the community. As Executive Director of the News Team and DECA Director of the Online Store, Lucas has also earned recognition as a Back 2 Business Competition winner. A two-year Student Council Ambassador, he actively contributes to school initiatives. In the football program, Lucas serves as Varsity Operations Manager and Director of Gameday Entertainment, overseeing logistics, leading the management team, and coordinating game day experiences to create a top-tier atmosphere. At the Furniture and Things Community Event Center, Lucas is Senior Coordinator of Event Experience, mentoring a team of students and managing events like ERHS/ISD 728 hockey. He also announces and manages entertainment for multiple sports, including baseball and lacrosse. Committed to community impact, Lucas aims to make a positive difference through all his roles.

Kari Pederson

Kari is an accomplished student leader dedicated to making a positive impact on her school and community. As President of the National Honor Society (NHS) during her junior and senior years, Kari organizes group projects and delivers inspiring speeches. Her leadership fosters academic excellence and service. As Swim Captain, she builds team unity, manages social media, oversees suit and clothing orders, and leads fundraising efforts. A Student Council Representative since sophomore year, Kari has planned major events like Snow Week and Homecoming while attending conferences and driving school initiatives. In the Band Leadership Team, she organizes concerts, pep bands, and banquets while welcoming new members to the program. Kari’s dedication, organization, and enthusiasm make her a standout leader and role model.

Salk Middle School

Brady Flynn

It is with great pride that we celebrate Brady Flynn for his outstanding academic achievements and exceptional citizenship. Brady has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence both inside and outside the classroom. As a dedicated participant in Math League, Band, National Junior Honor Society, and WEB, he has demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills. In addition to his impressive academic accomplishments, Brady is known for being kind, hardworking, and always willing to help others. Whether assisting classmates with their studies or volunteering in school activities, Brady finds every opportunity to positively impact those around him. His ability to maintain high academic standards while also contributing to our school community makes Brady a true role model. We are incredibly proud of and grateful for Brady and look forward to all he will continue to achieve.

Jacob Hartl 

We are excited today to recognize Jacob Hartl for academic excellence and leadership at Salk Middle School.  Jacob works incredibly hard in his studies.  He often exceeds expectations and holds himself to the highest of standards.  In addition to his studies, Jacob is always looking out for others, regularly helping struggling students without being asked to do so.  He is a strong leader in the classroom and is a model of respectful behavior for others.  Jacob is an active member in the National Junior Honor Society, doing his part to provide service to his school and community.  It is an honor to see Jacob recognized for his scholarship and character.  Jacob and his family should be very proud of the person that he has become and we all look forward to seeing his incredibly bright future.   

VandenBerge Middle School

Anthony Berthiaume 

Anthony is someone who truly stands out. Over the past year, we've had the privilege of witnessing his incredible growth, both personally and academically. He consistently demonstrates honesty, and a genuine kindness toward others, including staff members. Anthony's dedication and positive attitude make him a joy to be around. His dedication to doing his very best in every task he takes on have made him a valuable member to our school community.

Hailey Andreason 

Hailey is an incredible student who is always willing to help others, especially her peers. She approaches every situation with a positive attitude and is quick to offer support whenever it’s needed. Hailey’s hard work and dedication to her studies are truly impressive, and she consistently strives to do her best in everything she takes on. Hailey’s kindness and commitment make a real difference in the classroom, especially when it comes to helping her classmates. Her willingness to collaborate and her strong work ethic set a great example for others, making her a valued member of our school community.
